Celebrating our 50th Anniversary in Sharon Heights Shops !!! Surrounded by unique and amazing pieces, smiling Erin admits that her shop is not your typical jewelry store. "I remember one day, sitting on the floor with my dog. A lovely woman walked in and sat beside me. The result was a wonderful pendant for her, from a dream she had of a gold Sun design around her birthstone.” I loved that day!
Erin started working as a teenager. Always open to capture the dreams of whom she was designing for! A transforming moment was the birth of her son. “He has always been magical,” she said. “He grew up in my store, observing everything. When he was six, he took me to a 'business lunch' at the local restaurant. He brought his crayons then told me to start designing. I said I design for women, yet there wasn’t one here. He said, “Choose you.” Well, WOW ideas exploded in my head, my imagination became unchecked! These outrageous designs started flowing, furiously I started drawing to capture them all.
The First Vision was a huge double-level ring, a sculpture of the Last Knight, sword and all, in a sarcophagus on the bottom level. The top level was the famous Rose Window made with Black Diamonds, Blue Sapphires & Red Rubies becoming the stained glass of the window. Also, four Gothic flying buttresses as supports between the two levels. The side arches had gargoyle faces and the ring was engraved to look like a real stone wall…
The next ring in this Fantasia Collection is her Egyptian Pyramid Ring. "I was thinking ‘What would I love wearing every day! Then a design for a piece pops into mind. Growing up with an Antique dealer as a Mom, the rich art & architecture that abounds in this world, became the fuel for my ideas. I didn’t realize there was a rule book. So I just made up my style as I went… I truly love big statement pieces.”
While Story Rings may be her passion, she also has a wide selection of necklaces & earrings that talk as well. “Many of the necklaces are Antique Watch Chains I’ve turned into necklaces or an Art Deco Belt Buckle I set with gems. The one I’m wearing today I designed in high school. It was the first large necklace I did. I put Old Watch Fobs, Lockets, Antique pure gold beads on Baroque Pearls, it’s still my favorite!
Erin views her shop as a place to have grow “for me, it’s about sending a woman back out into her world feeling better than when she came in!”
